MyTone EQ App User Guide
1. Equalizer Switch and Status Indicator
ON/OFF Switch: Tap to toggle the audio processing engine on or off. It is recommended to pause playback before switching to avoid auditory discomfort caused by sudden volume shifts when effects are applied or removed.
Status Light: Displays the real-time processing state:
Green: Playback detected; the audio engine is running normally.
Orange: Standby mode; the engine is ready but no audio is currently playing.
Red: Audio engine failed to start or was interrupted (possibly due to hardware resources being occupied by another app).
Hidden Feature: If the effect is lost, triple-tap the status light to force a re-initialization of the audio engine.
2. Sound Presets
Tap the dropdown menu to select a preset (e.g., Vocal Clear, Bass Boost). Any manual adjustments to the bands will be automatically saved for the current preset, allowing you to personalize the sound for different audio equipment or headphones.
3. Input Gain
Adjust the volume compensation before it enters the equalizer (range: -15dB to +15dB). It is recommended to decrease the input gain when bands are significantly boosted to avoid audio distortion or clipping.
4. Audio Visualization Permission Button
Granting "Record Audio" (RECORD_AUDIO) permission unlocks visualization features, including: Spectrum and Waveform (11.), Media Player Panel (12.), Limiter (13.), and Volume Meter (14.). If permission is denied, the equalizer effects will still function normally.
5. EQ Band Sliders
Provides individual gain sliders for each frequency band, allowing you to precisely fine-tune the intensity of specific audio frequencies.
6. Reset Button
Triple-tap: Resets the frequency bands of the currently selected preset to their default values.
Long press: Opens a dialog to reset all presets in all EQ modes to factory defaults.
7. Theme Style
Choose from different UI color schemes based on your preference (e.g., Soft Latte, Raw Concrete, Morning Forest, Midnight Neon).
8. Settings Button
Tap the gear icon to enter the Settings page for advanced configuration.
9. Media Player Panel Switch
Tap the player icon to expand or collapse the Media Control Panel and the Spectrum / Waveform visualization meter.
10. Select Shortcut Player
Long press: Opens the list of music apps installed on your device. Select your preferred app to link it.
Tap: Once linked, tap the icon to quickly switch to your chosen music player's screen.
Note: You may choose "None / System Default" to unbind the shortcut.
11. Spectrum and Waveform Meter
Visualizes the current music's volume and frequency. Tap the labels in the upper-right corner of the meter to switch between Spectrum and Wave display modes.
12. Media Player Controller
Control your music (Play, Pause, Previous, and Next) directly within the app without switching back and forth.
13. Limiter Settings
When processed audio exceeds 0dB, the Limiter prevents digital clipping and unpleasant high-frequency noise. Tap to switch between 4 modes: OFF, Soft, Balanced, and Hard.
14. Volume Meter and Clip Light
Displays the real-time decibel (dB) level. When the output volume exceeds 0dB, the Clip light will turn red, warning of potential digital distortion.
15. EQ Mode
Select from 4 modes ranging from 5 to 31 bands, including: Basic Shaping, Classic Standard, Pro Audio, and Extreme Audiophile.
16. Screen Orientation
Set the UI to "Portrait Only," "Landscape Only," or follow the "System Default" orientation.
17. Select Language
Switch between multiple supported languages, including Traditional Chinese and English.
18. Contact Us
Automatically opens your email client to contact support for technical assistance or feedback.
19. Help Center
Links to an external webpage to view video tutorials, operation guides, and the latest app updates.
20. Privacy Policy
Links to an external webpage to view our data protection statements and permission usage policies.
21. Background Notification and Closing the App
Background Persistence: To ensure uninterrupted audio processing, the app runs as a Foreground Service. Note: Swiping the app away from the "Recent Apps" list only closes the interface; it will NOT stop the audio engine.
How to Stop Completely:
Notification Stop: Find the MyTone EQ entry in your system notification center and tap the "STOP" button to terminate the engine and exit.
System Settings: Alternatively, find MyTone EQ in your device's "Running Services" list and tap "Stop."
EQ Mode
Depending on your needs and tuning experience, this app provides four precision modes:
5 Bands (Basic Shaping):
Use Case: Ideal for "Quick Mood Adjustments."
Description: Focuses on core low, mid, and high frequencies. Perfect for rapidly changing the music's vibe while commuting or working out with simple, intuitive controls.
10 Bands (Classic Standard):
Use Case: Ideal for "Optimizing Equipment Performance."
Description: Uses the most common industry standard. It allows you to perform general calibration for different headphones or speakers to achieve a more balanced and natural sound.
20 Bands (Pro Audio):
Use Case: Ideal for "Refining Audio Details."
Description: Provides finer frequency control to pinpoint and correct subtle harshness or muddiness. Designed for advanced listeners who want to polish the finer details of their audio.
31 Bands (Extreme Audiophile):
Use Case: Ideal for "Pursuing Ultimate Fidelity."
Description: Studio-grade precision that compensates for the physical limitations of your headphone hardware. It achieves a near-perfect linear response, making it the top choice for true audiophiles.
